Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party enter areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Questers and Schemers parties.
Fans can expect discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
